DESCRIPTION
The Blizzard Hustle 10 skis are a perfect choice for advanced and expert skiers who are looking for Rustler-like performance and shape, but with a lighter construction. By sticking to the popular shaping and profiling from the Rustler line, the Hustle 10 brings its own technology to the forefront-allowing skiers who love to rip around the whole mountain with an emphasis on soft snow and playful skiing. There's certainly a touring option with this ski as well, as it's squarely in the middle of Blizzard's "Backcountry" section of skis. You can really put any type of binding on this ski, from a burly alpine binding to a lightweight pin tech one. Weighing right around 1750 grams per ski in the 180cm length, it has that touring capability, providing uphill efficiency while remaining stout and solid on the downhill. From a downhill perspective, the TrueBlend Freeride wood core allows the Blizzard engineers the ability to layer stringers of beech, poplar, and paulownia wood in a strategic manner to create a freeride effect. Still grippy and energetic underfoot, the Hustle 10 is a pretty darn good carver that has unexpected power and energy. Carbon DRT laminate adds grip and pop to the underfoot zone while allowing the tips and tails to be fun and playful.

Exactly what I was expecting

For the record, I am a very technical skier and have acquired quite a few pairs of Blizzard skis over the last several years (several models of the Firebird, two Bonafide's, three pairs of Cochise's, a pair of Rustler's, and a pair of ZeroG's). I have also tested a lot of skis (I was even a guest tester for SKI magazine years ago). I was looking for a new touring ski that had a little more response and stiffness than the ZeroG and I was willing to pay the price of it weighing a bit more to get that. The Hustle 9 delivered perfectly. I can still easily overpower this ski, it is not a Bonafide or Rustler level ski, but it does give a very nice response and feels a bit more solid than the ZeroG. It's super easy to initiate turns, and isn't quite as prone to getting knocked around as much as the ZeroG. The "feel' of the ski's weight is also significantly less than the Rustler, though it doesn't feel like the "nothing" that the ZeroG does. I also chose the Hustle 9 over the Hustle 10 because 9 out of 10 times that I'm touring, the snow isn't a powder lover's delight (usually cause it's way too high of an avy danger on those days). IMO, the Hustle 9 behaves a bit better in those less than ideal conditions. This last weekend, I was out one day in wet, spring-like conditions (think mashed potatoes) and then the next day the conditions had frozen up. The Hustle 9 was the ideal touring ski for dealing with the conditions on both of those days. I wouldn't have wanted a different ski!

Powder perfect

Was it the snow or the skis or both? The Hustle 11 does what you ask it and goes where you tell it to in deep snow. Loads of fun on this specialty powder ski
